Facebook Security Threat

by | Blog, News

I recently stumbled across an article that describes a fairly new Phishing attempt which targets Facebook users.

Guys, hackers and attackers are getting GOOD! Even professionals get caught in these traps all of the time. This is one of the easiest ways for attackers to gain access to your personal information. You need to take extra stepts to protect yourself and your identity on the Internet.

Here are a few of basic tips/guidelines concerning Phishing attempts:

  1. Email – If you weren’t expecting the email, slow down, and take extreme caution.
  2. Always take a moment to hover over email addresses and links – If the link that appears when you hover does not match the text displayed, DO NOT CLICK!
  3. Avoid click-bait on sites like Facebook – if you see a topic you are interested in, do your own search on the topic instead from a search engine.
  4. MOST IMPORTANTLY – DO NOT enter your credentials for a website of any kind unless you have intentionally navigated to the web address yourself.

Remember, if you are in doubt about an email you received, or believe you are the target of one of these attacks, feel free to reach out to us at [email protected]. We’ll be glad to look over the situation and help you determine if it is safe.

These are just a few tips. Please feel free to comment if you have any experiences or tips of your own you’d like to share!
